From 2014 Computing replaces the subject previously known as ICT.
Computing is to be integrated across the curriculum to link in with class’s topics. Espresso and Purple Mash are used by the teachers to support the children with their learning in this subject. Purple Mash is available to use at home – please see the link under the Kid’s Zone.
We have a dedicated computing suite which enables whole class teaching of computing. We have interactive white boards with a computer in each of our classrooms which are linked to the internet. We also have a wifi system and iPads to enable children to develop computing skills across the curriculum.
We encourage children to share the skills they have acquired outside of school in what is a rapidly changing technological world. We also encourage them to consider e-safety and every child is expected to sign an e-safety agreement which states that they will follow safe internet usage guidelines.
PE is mainly taught by PE specialists from Fit For Sport. They provide professional coaches and teach each class following an agreed scheme of work.
Swimming – Year 4 have weekly swimming sessions at Forest Hill Pool.
Music is taught in every year group with the skills integrated into each class’s topics. We ensure progression in skills using our Knowledge, Skills and Understanding document.
Annually, the children take part in Prom Praise at The Royal Albert Hall.
A choir has recently been started at lunchtimes, which has proved very popular in Key Stage 2!
