Year 6 - Newton

Welcome to Newton Class.

Summer Term 2 Information

Class teachers: Miss S. Smith and Mrs M Whyte

We have had an eventful and amazing year so far. The children have finished their SATS and are awaiting their results. Currently, we are rehearsing for our school production which will be held at Sydenham High on Tuesday July 16th @ 6pm: it promises to be really exciting and full of laughter.

Recently, we were visited by members from the constabulary force. The children learnt a lot about the work the policemen and women do in the community and were able to ask a lot of questions relevant to them starting secondary school. They also had the privilege of trying on their kit and taking pictures. Please have a look at our pictures.

The children were making periscopes. A periscope lets you see over the top of things, such as fences or walls that you are not tall enough to look over. You can also use it to see around corners. People first started using periscopes in submarines in about 1860, to allow the sailors to see above the water.

Here are some pictures from our class assembly. This half term we have been learning about the Bible in our Religious Education lessons. During our assembly, we sang songs taken from scripture passages from the Bible. We even sang the Lord's Prayer. The children decorated their own Bibles with pictures of Bible stories they learnt. It was a fantastic and informative assembly.
