Malorie Blackman - Year 6

The Malorie Blackman Class

We chose to name our class after the incredibly talented author, Malorie Blackman. Malorie Blackman is an English children’s author. She writes young adult and children’s novels, short stories, and picture books. She was named the United Kingdom’s Children’s Laureate in 2013. Blackman’s books always feature black characters. This is because none of the characters in the stories she read as a child were black. Blackman felt that this was a problem, and she vowed to solve it as a writer. We love her stories and she is an inspiration to us all!

Some of her books include....

Our class display

For our class display, we took inspiration from the amazing Wendy Ewald who is an award-winning photographer. We asked our pupils "What is the best part of you?", and we displayed their answers on our class board. It includes striking black-and-white photographs taken by the children themselves! We loved sharing all the best parts of us :)

Our very special values day

To celebrate our values at Holy Trinity, we thought about how we are kind, respectful, ambitious, forgiving, resilient and honest. We joined together and created the word VALUES - have a look at our pictures!

Where the Wild Things Are - Dance Workshop

For World Book Day, we had a dance company come to our school and deliver a wonderful dance workshop to recreate the scenes from the story Where The Wild Things Are! We had a lot of fun. Check out some of our moves!
