Character Education

The aim of character education within our school is to foster values such as empathy, resilience, and responsibility, to nurture well-rounded individuals who are equipped to thrive in all aspects of their lives. By incorporating these values into our curriculum and school ethos, we aim to develop students who not only excel academically but also demonstrate strong moral character and personal integrity.

Our overarching goal is to create a positive and inclusive school culture where students are encouraged to exhibit empathy towards others, show resilience in the face of challenges, and take responsibility for their actions. We believe that by instilling these values in our students, we are not only preparing them for academic success but also for meaningful and purposeful lives beyond the classroom.

Roots Of Empathy 

Roots of Empathy’s mission is to build caring, peaceful, and civil societies through the development of empathy in children and adults.

Roots of Empathy is an evidence-based classroom programme that has shown significant effect in reducing levels of aggression among school children while raising social/emotional competence and increasing empathy.

At the heart of the programme are a local parent and their baby who visit the classroom every three weeks over the school year. A trained Roots of Empathy Instructor coaches the children to observe the baby’s development and to label the baby’s feelings.

 

Therapy Dog 

Benji, our beloved therapy dog, brings joy and comfort to us every week alongside her owner, Terri. Their visits are eagerly anticipated as they create a warm and positive atmosphere within our space. Children look forward to spending time with Benji, reading stories with her and engaging in playful activities.

 

Buddies 

When children start at Holy Trinity, they are welcomed into a supportive community where they are paired with a buddy from Year 6. This buddy system fosters a special partnership between the younger and older students, with the older children taking on a mentoring role to support and assist the Reception class during their first year.

 

Memory Books 

Memory books are like time capsules, capturing precious moments from each school year in a scrapbook filled with memories. These personalised keepsakes are a nostalgic treasure trove for children, allowing them to reminisce about important milestones, friendships, and experiences as they journey through their academic years. From first-day pictures to graduation celebrations, every page tells a story that will be cherished for a lifetime.

 

Headteacher Awards 

At our school, headteacher awards are a cherished tradition that recognises the outstanding achievements of both children and adults in our community. Every Friday during our celebration assembly, we come together to honour those who have demonstrated exceptional dedication, hard work, and positive behavior. These awards serve as a meaningful way to acknowledge and celebrate the hard work and accomplishments of individuals who contribute to our school's positive and supportive environment.

 

Art Projects  

At our school, collaboration is at the heart of our creative endeavours. We frequently come together to work on whole school art projects, with our most recent endeavour being a stunning glass project crafted to commemorate our 150th birthday. The intricate pieces from this project can be admired throughout the school, serving as a visual testament to our community's unity and creativity. From vibrant murals to intricate sculptures, these displays showcase the collective talent and passion of our students and staff. These projects not only beautify our surroundings but also serve as a source of inspiration and pride for everyone who walks through our halls.
